Videoconference Distance Learning:
Instructional Design & Literacy Strategies

Report Summary * 2007 Final Report NEW! * Resources & Results

Hone classroom-level skills targeted for improvement and distance learning.  Leave ready to respond to changes in standards, curriculum, and assessments.  Return able to demonstrate your commitment to literacy.

Description

Note:  2007 Institute complete.  See 2007 Final Report.

The purpose of this summer institute is to create detailed, standards-based lesson plans for videoconferencing and regular classrooms. Classroom improvement and distance learning strategies have overlapping goals.

Many of the same strategies and design elements that make lessons succeed in the videoconferencing (remote) classroom are successful in regular (local) classrooms. These overlapping strategies and design elements, and preparing lessons ready to teach, is the focus of this course.

There will be plenty of help available to help you generate ideas and design your lessons. There will also be equipment set up for practice and taping your session.  If you're willing to roll up your sleeves and engage in this work, YOU WILL SUCCEED.

Who's coming (list)?

Over 30 CTE teachers, 5 high school language arts teachers, 3 college teachers, 4 high school staff developers, all supported by a 4-person instructional team.  What an amazing group!
